Episode - 10
It is our fortune that we are able to write and read the story of Krishna and Kalpana in this Kali Yug.
It is our fortune that we are able to write and read the story of Krishna and Kalpana in this Kali Yug.
After starting this website, we are hearing about Krishna’s blessings on other devotees too. Hopefully, we will get His permission to write about these devotees in the future.
If He is living in a devotee’s house now, should we be surprised if He has lived in the past with other devotees also?
He just needs our love and complete devotion and nothing else.
Nearly 300 to 400 years back, Krishna is said to have lived with a childless widow.
She was born in a Namboothiri family. From childhood, she was an ardent devotee of Sri Krishna. She was however married to an elderly Brahmin Vedic Scholar of Venginissery village’s Kuroor-Illam. As destiny would have it, she became a widow by the age of sixteen, and as was the practice in those days, she was confined to the kitchen and prayers.

Observe how Bhagawan plans each life…
As she was childless, she used to constantly chant Krishna’s name. Slowly her relatives abandoned her and she lived all alone in a big house. She was a simple soul with no desires and would see Krishna in everyone.
There are a number of stories of her and her contemporary Vilwamangalam Swamiyar, a well-known scholar who was also a very ardent devotee of Krishna.
I will not deviate from the story and narrate the association between the two.
Her constant prayer was…
‘May the little lad dark and lovely, the supreme Brahman of the Vedas, appear before me in all his splendour, with flute held to his childish lips.’

As she was getting old, one day she requested Krishna…
‘Oh my Bala Gopala! I have nobody but You. So be with me always. Do not leave me as You did with Yashoda.’
Krishna appreciated this pious lady’s devotion and came to her as a small Brahmin boy. Due to his maya she did not recognise Bhagawan and adopted Him as her son. He used to live with her and help her in the daily activities. Krishna without naughtiness is unthinkable…

He used to trouble her like how a small child would and she used to scold him as a loving mother.
She used to call him ‘Unni Kanna’.
It is believed that when the time came for her to leave the mortal world, she was taken by her Unni Kanna along with her body. After her disappearance, her house also collapsed.
Recently, when an ‘Ashtamangala Devaprasnam’ was performed, there was a divine revelation that ‘Sri Krishna-Chaithanyam’ is existing at a particular spot in village Venginissery.

(Ashtamangala Devaprasnam is a certain type of practice of the prasna branch of Hindu astrology. It is very popular in Kerala. The terminology indicates the use of eight auspicious objects in its practice. It is used to ascertain the unknown causes or unwelcome situations and to plan remedial actions).
After excavations, the illam (house) of this pious lady was found. Surprisingly, for more than 350 years no one has occupied this land.
Would Krishna allow anyone to live on His amma’s land?
Her name was…
‘Kurooramma’ and her original name was ‘Gauri’.
Now…
Why I have written about her???
A temple of Sri Krishna is being constructed at the place where excavations were done and aptly named as ‘Kurooramma Sri Krishna temple’.

Kalpana had a vision of Kurooramma blessing her.
More than 350 years ago there was no photography. She was not a well-known personality that someone would paint her picture or make a statue of her.
It is impossible to visualise her.
Krishna had other plans…
He instructed Kalpana that she had to get a picture of Kurooramma drawn. Kalpana spoke to a number of artists in India. But when would she go to Kerala and when would she explain to the artists how to draw Kurooramma’s picture?
It is only the destined few who can do it, isn’t it?
Bhagawan had already planned it… so why would someone else do it.
Suddenly one day, Kalpana suggested to Geeta if Geeta’s daughter could try and draw the same. Through Kalpana He has already decided who has to take up the divine work.
And was he not waiting for the realisation of His devotees???
And that too through His second favourite amma???
The process of drawing Kurooramma’s picture started, each day Kalpana and Geeta’ daughter, Padmini, would skype to work on and modify the drawing. It took around a month to complete the drawing. The complete drawing was done on the computer using graphics.
And Aditya could see Krishna holding Padmini’s hand guiding her. As soon as Kalpana received the image on whatsapp Aditya could see Krishna peeping over her shoulder to see the final draft.
Krishna do You really need to see it??
You are the Karta, Karma and Kriya.
And the final one is…

This picture was donated to the Kurooramma Sri Krishna temple in August 2016.
Can you imagine a lady who lived in the 16th Century (She was born in 1570 and attained Moksha in 1640) and we are seeing a picture of her now in 2016?
How blessed was Kurooramma that Krishna chose to live with her as her own son and how fortunate of her to reach Vaikunta with the human body.
When the photo was being presented in the Kurooramma Sri Krishna temple an interesting experience…
A boy of 7-8 years appeared from nowhere and gave Padmini a manjadikuru. He sat next to her making faces at her and playing with her. Aditya saw that it was Krishna in that boy’s form.
Krishna wanted to gift Padmini in front of everyone and He did it in this way.
How fortunate she is!!!
"They are forever free who renounce all selfish desires and break away from the ego cage of "I," "me," and "mine" to be united with the Lord. This is the supreme state. Attain to this, and pass from death to immortality."
