Krishnastami Special
Episode 118
Every Thursday Kalpana reads the Vishnu Sahasranamam and also observes Baba’s day. Almost every day it takes around 2 to 2 and half hours for her to finish the puja.
One Thursday as she started the puja, and she saw a 5 to 6 months old Kanna coming to her, hugging and kissing her. He sat next to her and heard the whole vratam like a small baby listening to His mother’s story telling. He was looking at her so innocently that she wanted to hold him and kiss him.

When she started Lalitha Sahasranamam, she could see that He was getting bored and started sleeping. She started laughing seeing His antics. Kanna does not like Kalpana praying or even talking about any other God leave alone praising them. He only wants to His name.
After the Lalitha Sahasranamam, she started chanting Narayaneeyam. (Kalpana reads everyday one dasakam and has completed the Narayaneeyam 8 times till now). As soon as He heard Narayaneeyam slokas, Kanna woke up with a jerk. And listened very interestingly and as soon as she finished, He disappeared.

Last week, for 2 to 3 days, Kanna was laughing loudly. Kalpana wondered the reason for it and asked ‘Kanna! Why are you laughing so much? Tell me the joke. Even I want to laugh with you’. He showed funny faces and said just like that.
May be Kanna is happy that His birthday is coming and world over people would celebrate with much fanfare.
One evening Kalpana daughter Malavika said ‘Kanna! I am your doctor. Come near me. I want to check your mouth and see what the reason for your laughter is’. He came near her and opened His mouth.
Malavika peering into His mouth said ‘Ohh! You are keeping the whole universe in Your mouth. That is the reason for Your laughter’.

Do you know what Kanna did???
Suddenly He spit and said ‘I am ok’ for which she agreed.
A few days back, He was making weird sounds. When Kalpana enquired about the sounds He said ‘I am riding a horse’. He did this for 3 to 4 days playing a lot and feeling hungry.

And for His birthday He asked Kalpana for palpayasam (milk payasam) which Kalpana is going to prepare.
Recently, she received a video on Guruvayoor and when she asked whose video it is and who was sitting in the Garbhagriha. His reply was ‘I don’t know Amma. Who is it?’ Kalpana said ‘Oh! Really you don’t know? It is buch aunty (ghost aunty).’ He acted as if He was shocked to hear her and was scared.
A few minutes later Kalpana went to sleep. She could hear some sound. Kalpana got up to see if Aditya was making those noises. When she saw she was alone she got scared. She later realised that she told Kanna it was a ghost aunty in Guruvayoor, so He was making these sounds to really scare her by making the noises.

Once she told Kanna that would make dal vada (vada made with soaking Channa dal). So she soaked the dal in the afternoon and went to sleep. In her sleep she felt a soft touch on her hands. When she woke up she enquired with her kids if they had come to her room and tried to wake her up. They said that they said they were involved in a game in another room and did not go to her at all.
She realised that Kanna was trying to wake her up as He wanted to eat the dal vada. She immediately went to kitchen and prepared the vadas and offered to Kanna.
Kanna was so happy that His favourite mother has made something that He likes.

As Kanna’s birthday is nearing Kalpana mentioned the same to Him. He was so surprised and said ‘Oh!!! Is it. I totally forgot my birthday is coming’.
What do we say about His naughtiness, other than loving Him.
But His most favourite food that He expects from Kalpana is Lemon juice and Pal payasam.
Kalpana’s Pal Payasam Recipe:
Broken rice 2 handfuls, Milk 2 litres, Sugar 2 glasses, cardamom powder ¼ tsp and ghee 1 tsp.
Wash rice, then add everything into cooker and close the lid. When steam starts coming out put the whistle and reduce the flame to minimum. Cook for around 25 minutes. Switch off the flame, leave it for 1 hour and then open. Kanna’s Pal payasam is ready for neivedyam.
